The Impact of Serious Multiplayer Video Games on the Oral Production of Iranian Learners of French as a Foreign Language: A Study of A2 Level Adolescents
چکیده EnglishMotivating students to speak in an FLE classroom in front of their peers and teacher remains a constant challenge. This action research explores the use of a multiplayer serious video game to enhance oral production in French among Iranian female students at the A2 level. The study adopted a qualitative-quantitative methodology, based on pre-tests and post-tests, students' oral productions throughout the semester, and semi-structured interviews. The results show a significant improvement in fluency and accuracy in oral production, with a reduction in code-switching and an increase in interactions in French. Students also demonstrated increased motivation and stronger engagement due to the collaborative and competitive aspects of the game. However, the effectiveness of the game depends on factors such as pedagogical guidance, access to technological resources, and the time available in class. Consequently, well-structured didactic support and adaptation of activities to students’ proficiency levels are crucial to maximizing the advantages of this approach in the FFL classroom.
