The Role of French as a Foreign Language Teachers' Learning Styles in Iran on Their Writing Teaching Strategies
چکیده EnglishThe growing need for international communication has significantly increased the emphasis on foreign language acquisition. Within this domain, writing competence constitutes a fundamental skill that facilitates such interaction and is therefore of considerable scholarly importance. In the context of French language teaching and learning in Iran, research indicates that despite the implementation of modern pedagogical methodologies, the persistent influence of traditional approaches remains evident. The instructor, acting as a facilitator of learning, occupies a central role in the educational process; furthermore, their pedagogical skills directly shape the construction of new knowledge and its practical application in authentic contexts. This study investigated learning style as a potential determinant in the selection of instructional strategies. While various dimensions of learning styles have been extensively examined in prior research, the specific relationship between educators' learning styles and their writing instruction techniques has remained largely unexamined. Accordingly, this study aimed to explore this relationship. The research was conducted in three phases: first, the predominant learning styles of French language instructors were identified; second, their writing teaching competencies were assessed; and finally, learner-produced writing samples were analyzed as an outcome measure of the instructional process. The findings revealed a convergence in teaching practices among instructors, notwithstanding variations in their individual learning styles.
