"Discourse Rhythm in Georges Perec's Les Choses and Its Persian Translation: A Meschonnic Approach"
چکیده EnglishThis study examines the Persian translation of Georges Perec's Les Choses by Ahmad Samii Gilani through the lens of Henri Meschonnic's theory of rhythm and discourse. The analysis of the source text reveals that Perec constructs an implicit critique of consumer society through specific stylistic devices which contribute to a "rhythm-of-lack" that makes the reader experience the characters' condition. The examination of the Persian translation reveals a complex dynamic, combining structural continuities with significant inflections, where the clinical neutrality of the source text sometimes gives way to more expressive and melancholic tones. These transformations, viewed from a Meschonnician perspective, do not constitute mere losses but testify to the work of a translator who, faced with the imperative of readability in the target language, fully assumes his role as an agent of discourse, reinventing for an Iranian readership an organization of language that carries meaning. The Persian translation thus appears as a fruitful compromise between rhythmic fidelity and cultural adaptation. The analysis reveals that while Samii largely preserves the structural markers of Perec's rhythm, his translation introduces notable inflections, particularly more expressive and melancholic tonalities that subtly modify the clinical neutrality of the source text.
