Résumé

Cet article explore les fonctions du silence éloquent dans les œuvres d’Emmanuel Carrère à partir des cadres théoriques de Michel Ephratt (2008) et de Roman Jakobson (1956). Le silence est analysé comme un élément à part entière de la communication verbale et narrative, structurant l’implicite et engageant activement le lecteur. Le corpus comprend les romans La Moustache (1986), La Classe de neige (1995) et L’Adversaire (2000). La problématique posée est la suivante: comment le silence, en tant que forme discursive, agit-il comme moteur narratif et outil d’implication interprétative? L’hypothèse avancée est que le silence n’est pas simplement absence, mais producteur de sens, structurant la réception et la lecture. À travers une approche linguistique et stylistique, cette étude met en évidence les rôles pragmatiques, référentiels, émotionnels, empathiques et métalinguistiques du silence dans la narration carrérienne.

Résumé Persian

این مقاله به بررسی کارکردهای سکوت بلیغ در آثار امانوئل کارر می‌پردازد، بر پایه چارچوب‌های نظری میشل افرات (۲۰۰۸) و رومن یاکوبسن (۱۹۵۶). سکوت به‌عنوان عنصری کامل در ارتباط کلامی و روایی تحلیل می‌شود که ضمن ساختاردهی به ضمنی‌گویی، خواننده را به‌طور فعال درگیر می‌سازد. پیکره‌ی مورد بررسی شامل رمان‌های سبیل (۱۹۸۶)، کلاس برف (۱۹۹۵) و حریف (۲۰۰۰) است. مسئله پژوهش این است: سکوت، به‌عنوان یک شکل گفتمانی، چگونه به‌عنوان موتور روایت و ابزار درگیرسازی تفسیری عمل می‌کند؟ فرضیه این پژوهش آن است که سکوت صرفاً غیاب نیست، بلکه تولیدکننده معناست و ساختار دریافت و خوانش را شکل می‌دهد. این پژوهش با رویکردی زبان‌شناختی و سبک‌شناختی، نقش‌های کاربردی، ارجاعی، احساسی، همدلی‌محور و فرازبانی سکوت را در روایت کارری نشان می‌دهد.

Between Silence and Speech: The Role of Communication in Carrère's Books

Résumé English

This article explores the functions of eloquent silence in the works of Emmanuel Carrère, based on the theoretical frameworks of Michel Ephratt (2008) and Roman Jakobson (1956). Silence is analyzed as a full-fledged component of verbal and narrative communication, structuring the implicit and actively engaging the reader. The corpus includes the novels La Moustache (1986), La Classe de neige (1995), and L’Adversaire (2000). The research question is as follows: how does silence, as a discursive form, function as a narrative engine and a tool for interpretive involvement? The hypothesis put forward is that silence is not merely absence, but a producer of meaning, shaping both reception and reading. Through a linguistic and stylistic approach, this study highlights the pragmatic, referential, emotional, empathic, and metalinguistic roles of silence in Carrère's narration.
